Pixels & Resolution | 2.4 | OCR GCSE Computer Science | J277
6 flashcards
- What are most computer images?
- Bitmaps, which use a series of square blocks (pixels) arranged on a grid.
- What is each pixel given?
- A unique binary code which represents the colour of the pixel. e.g. Yellow = 010
- Resolution
- The total number of pixels in an image.
- How is resolution calculated? (in pixels)
- width x height
- How does resolution affect image quality?
- The higher the resolution, the more pixels there are available, increasing the quality of the image as there are more pixels available to display a clearer image.
- How does resolution affect file size?
- The higher the resolution, the higher the file size, as there are will be more pixels and each pixel is represented by binary values which need to be stored.
